Practicing yoga is a way to a comprehensive well-being. According to the outlook of yoga a human being is a complex unity, where all the levels of the being - physical, energetic, emotional, mental, psychological and spiritual - are interacting. Yoga is criticizing the view of the western modern medicine that is not considering a human being as the multidimensional being that he is in reality but as only a physical mechanism.
While the modern western medicine is treating the symptoms of the health disorders and diseases, yoga is effecting on their causes at a deep level. The physical body and its health or sickness is a reflection of the subtle body, of the state of mind and emotions of a human being, of the fact how he is using his mind and of the way he is approaching the world and himself. Certainly every one of us, who has experienced overflowing happiness even for a short time, knows how deep effect it has in the health. You might feel like the body was losing its weight, as if was full of vitality and you might feel as if you could sustain anything. On the other hand a negative, depressed and obsessive thinking that is repeating the same thoughts again and again, is causing headache, tensions and tiredness, that in the long run could develop into even serious diseases.
This is of course a very simplified explanation for it what is really happening in the complex interaction of the different levels of a human being. Yoga is offering a scientific, very precise and a logical view for treating different physical problems. Each yoga exercise has besides its subtle effects concrete physical effects. Their surprising effect is based on the fact we start to treat the problem beginning from its root causes. Each exercise is a unique way to understand and to balance a specific area of the being - be the case a common could, insomnia or treating severe diseases.
Yoga’s holistic treatment of diseases is requiring that the human being is himself working actively for solving the problem both through a profound self-contemplation and a physical training program. The big revelation and a miracle is that a human being is able to heal himself. However, this healing has to start from within. Besides the yoga exercises in the treatment, we use also for instance auyrveda, an ancient Indian medicine, that is used world wide even nowadays.
A regular yoga practice begins gradually, starting from the subtle level, to change your physical being in a healthier, more balanced and vital direction. Yoga helps us to understand that happiness is a basis of a healthy and harmonious body, mind and soul.. It helps us to search happiness from within. By the help of yoga exercises it is possible to reach a physical, psychological, mental and spiritual state of balance and vitality that is a source of happiness. In this state, your vitality is inexhaustible, you are not prone to the physical effects of old age and for other diseases. You live in a continuous connection with the inexhaustible energy of the universe, you will become a master of your own being.
