What is yoga?

Yoga, as Natha is teaching it, is a precise, holistic system of practice that is aiming at physical, psychological, mental and spiritual development. Natha’s ensemble of teaching is combining traditional forms of yoga with the modern knowledge forming thus a unique modality of awakening and expanding consciousness. In practice the teaching includes physical postures or asana’s, breathing exercises or pranayama, and learning different phases of meditation, that together with ethical and philosophical principles are forming the basis of yoga. Besides these elements of classical yoga, a huge amount of other yoga exercises and knowledge are included in the teaching.

For supporting the practical exercises and expansion of the consciousness yoga offers also a coherent philosophical frame. Yoga is teaching a world outlook and knowledge that is integrating your understanding. You may and must test it in practice yourself. A genuine yoga teaching guides the practitioner to the path of self-contemplation where the aim is to realize the mystery of existence and to live according to your own experience. This is creating in the practitioner’s whole being a balance that is reaching from the physical health until psychological well-being: elevated emotions and ecstatic expansion and sharpening and controlling of the mind.

Tantric knowledge regarding the possibilities and dimensions of the human life is forming the basis of yoga. Yoga is a path of inner freedom that is helping the practitioner to understand how to become a master of your own life. While using the general principles of the universe yoga is a scientific and esoteric approach to understanding different aspects of life. Yoga is awakening the awareness of the latent, mystical, immortal and boundless dimension inside a human being. This awareness is leading into a permanent state of happiness and into a state of becoming complete where we have a freedom to choose our own destiny. Once this awakening of the consciousness is attained, from there on it will be guiding our whole action making it meaningful, efficient and enjoyable. We shall not feel helpless when facing the challenges of life because we are guided by a wisdom and understanding about the meaning of our life that is pouring from within us.

Yoga has gained a lot of popularity in the western world during the last decades. While passing a complicated journey through several different translators, teachers and practitioner, the original contents of the ancient science of yoga have been fading away. The main focus on yoga that is taught in the western countries often remains unfortunately at the physical level, at maintaining health and flexibility. Certainly yoga is a very efficient method for attaining these goals also, but first of all yoga is a comprehensive method for understanding happiness at a profound level and living it. Genuine yoga can be recognized by the fact that there is a stable consciousness concerning the superior dimension of human life, where the practitioner is guided step by step.

Natha’s teaching is based on the use of the most efficient methods in their original, esoteric form that is now for the first time made into one wide and comprehensive teaching that is accessible for anybody. The program of teaching offered by Natha is guiding the practitioner to the origins of yoga and spirituality. Comprehensive yoga teaching gives you a safe path - specified by thousands of years of experience - towards self-realization, finding and achieving the meaning of life, towards more and more lucid consciousness, towards a deepening spontaneous joy and bliss.
